Program Lead
Ms. Shen
Ms. Shen has a background in physics and computer engineering and has worked as a software engineer at technology companies including Zillow. She brings a systems-minded, process-oriented, and continuously improving approach from engineering into the development of Glimmer Grove Academy. She oversees school operations and works closely with Ms. Shang and Ms. Kang to support consistent curriculum standards and teaching quality.
As a parent, she understands what families hope for in afterschool education. She wants to create a warm, orderly, high-quality learning environment where Chinese learning, academic support, and whole-child development can naturally fit into every afternoon. She also holds CPR certification to help support student safety.
Teaching Lead
Ms. Shang
Ms. Shang graduated from Henan Normal University with a major in English teacher education. She holds a Chinese English teacher qualification certificate, a Mandarin proficiency certificate, and CPR certification. With many years of elementary English teaching experience, she understands children's language learning patterns and teaching methods. She has been responsible for curriculum design and won first place in an internal teaching competition. After coming to the United States, she continued teaching Chinese and has built extensive Chinese-English bilingual teaching experience.
Ms. Shang also began learning Chinese dance as a child and is passionate about sharing Chinese culture. She has taught dance with Chunyu Dance and has participated many times in Austin-area performances promoting Chinese culture. She brings strong dance foundations and stage experience to her teaching. She focuses on developing children's language expression, confidence, and artistic growth, combining language learning with engaging activities so children can learn joyfully and grow with confidence.
Senior Chinese Teacher
Ms. Kang
Ms. Kang graduated with a degree in Computer Science and Technology, is currently pursuing a Registered Nurse (RN) degree, and holds CPR certification. As a mother of three, she has rich parenting experience, communicates warmly with young children, is familiar with multiple Chinese curriculum systems, and understands families' real needs.
In recent years, Ms. Kang has taught at Chinese schools, working with children ages 2 to 8. She uses games, stories, songs, picture books, and other varied teaching methods to spark children's interest and help them improve Chinese listening and speaking skills in a relaxed and joyful environment.
